CHOCOLATE MERLOT SAUCE

To Drizzle over Dessert
The author of this recipe, Julie Hasson, simply says that it’s “outrageous” – complex and simple at the same time. Drizzle it over cake, ice cream, sorbet – or fruit. Try not to drizzle it over everything in sight!

MAKES 1 1/3 CUPS

1 cup, semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup, Merlot wine (or substitute Cabernet Sauvignon)
1/3 cup, light corn syrup
In a medium heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine all three ingredients. Stir constantly over low to medium heat until the chocolate is just melted and all ingredients are incorporated. Remove from heat and whisk until completely smooth and slightly cooled.
