Does anyone have a recipe for date appitizers???

Ok, I know this sounds strange, but!!! I went to a dinner party last weekend and the hostess served an appitizer that was out of this world. We were all "yumming" after popping these babies in our mouths. We figured them out for the most part, however, there are still a few mysteries...Here's what we know. Use small dates. Stuff them with cheese (she said it was a Mexican cheese), wrap them in bacon and smother with maple syrup??? (tasted like it), then bake? broil? I don't know the specifics, but it would be wonderful to have this down pat. They are delicious!!! Thanks, Sue

I believe Melinda has a recipe for that in the archives.

Leni, I typed in Date Appitizers and nothing came up. I'll try again. Thanks.

She has talked about this kind of recipe several times. I don't see it in the archives either. You might want to go to Resource Guide and search in some the sites there. I've got her cookbook. I'll take a look and see if it's in there.

Sue, I found this online. You could use other kinds of cheese. I've tried some of Anne Burrell's recipes and they've all been good.

I doubt that maple syrup was used. What you probably tasted was a combination of the juices from the dates and the bacon.

The link I posted calls for brushing them with maple syrup when they come out of the oven. I think I saw another recipe that used a balsamic reduction in the same way.

Leni, Champagne, and MsMarm,

I got the recipe!!! The woman who hosted the party sent it to me and, yes, it is brushed with maple syrup. Thank you also for the websites you suggested. I'm going to further research the recipe and see what else there is!

Sue

Hug someone today and make their day a little brighter.
