I'm trying to get rid of clutter in the kitchen.

One of the items I have is old and interesting... but it takes up space!

I remember Melinda talking about wanting an old mezzaluna. I wonder if this is the one. Anyone remember how she described it?

I also have one with a green wooden handle, but it's not nearly as cool as this one.

Mar52, I have a couple of these antique kitchen gadgets with wooden handles. I think they are for mixing shortening and butter into biscuits and pie dough, etc. I used one of them this week to chop nuts in a small bowl.

Any other suggestions?

Sorry, but it's not a Mezzaluna. For a couple good pictures of what they look like, go to:

Oh yeah! Now I remember. There was a salad place in the Valley that used a huge Mezzaluna to chop salad.

I have a nut chopper. Thanks!

I remember my grandma using a mezzaluna in a maybe 14" diameter wooden bowl with the inner bowl surface concavingly curving like the mezzaluna.

But what is Mar52's tool? Mar, how tall is it?

Mar, that is some tool...or weapon! I was wondering how large it is, too.

It's about 5 - 6 inches high including the handle. The more I was looking at it on my desk the more I want to keep it! I'm terrible.

It's also a food chopper that works with a wooden bowl. Now I need a wooden bowl!

If you click here: http://www.asenjigalblogs.com/collectin ... ppliances/
and scroll down you will two photos with various types of mezalunas (half-moon) some for use with one hand, some large require two hands.

The cutting board is 16 x 36 to give you an idea of the sizes.
