Does anyone make a waffle iron WITHOUT a nonstick coating? My iron, that was a wedding gift to my parents in 1940!, and that I've been using since the 60s, finally bit the dust.

I don't like the way waffles turn out with a nonstick coating and really, really want to find one without.

Have you tried finding someone who could repair the waffle iron. I have a great guy here in the Valley. He repaired my uncles electric roaster and several other antiques for a friend.

I don't know of any consumer (home use) non non-stick waffle irons. The commercial ones are bare.

I use a Sunbeam W-2 that was originally purchased by my mother in 1954. It is very heavy, heats evenly and bakes beautiful waffles.

Every few years I clean the grids with oven cleaner and then re-season it (wasting several waffles in the process) but the results are worth it.

GE, Dominion, Toastmaster and Westinghouse also made waffle irons that are excellent.

Vintage ones that are not so good are Bersted, Kwikway, Magic Maid, Munsey, Electroway.

I used to have my vintage appliances repaired by Speedy Appliance Service in Woodland Hills, on Ventura Blvd.
I don't know if they are still in business but they used to do a lot of very fine work for me.

Speedy Appliance is still there Andi. That's the one that I was referring to. Maxie you don't say where you are located but if you hven't tossed the iron already it might be worth a trip.

The best job Speedy Appliance did for me was the restoration of a Three-head very early Hamilton Beach malt mixer. It needed new wiring inside and out and it was costly to repair but it is a very rare pink color - green and white are the common ones - and I wanted it in working order.

I can't begin to count how many of my vintage toasters got new power cords and plugs there, but a significant number for sure.
They also repaired a couple of my Hobart Kitchenaid mixers for me (after the Hobart service center in Van Nuys closed).

I don't know how they do what they do, but I envision a back room with a resident magician performing impossible tasks.

I love Speedy Appliance! I would go there to get new blades for my old Oster Blender that I got in 1967 and new rubber gaskets. I didn't know the Hobart service center closed. They rebuilt my Kitchaid when I burned the motor out doing to many batches of bread in a row. That must have been 25 years ago. My 4 1/2 quart Kitchenaid mixer is about to die. I'm trying to decide if I want to rebuild it or buy the 6 quart pro Kitchenaid. I live in West Hills and Speedy Appliance has always been the place to go for electric repairs.
